This map shows active and planned operations in the North American lithium-ion battery / electric vehicle supply chain. Operations are classified according to supply chain segment, with operations spanning raw materials, manufacturing (electrodes and cells, modules and packs, electric vehicles), end of life recycling and reuse, and other supply chain activities (equipment, service and repair, research and development, modeling and software, distribution). This map also displays key socioeconomic indicators used in the U.S. Council on Environmental Quality Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST), and state-level labor policy indicators and rankings collated and calculated by Oxfam America.
Data
The NAATBatt Lithium-Ion Battery Supply Chain Database is the source of most of the facilities data on this map. This is supplemented by electric vehicle and hybrid manufacturing facilities identified in the Electric Vehicle and hybrid Vehicle Plant database developed by Automative Manufacturing Solution, and new or proposed sites identified in prominent news articles (specific sources are indicated in each facility). The industry is rapidly developing and this map provides a snapshot from identified sources at the time (February 2024). Specific entries should be verified prior to use.
