Powering Agriculture in Off-grid Communities in Uganda (PILOT)

May 8, 2024

ENVenture will address food insecurity and wastage in vulnerable regions affected by climate change, droughts, and limited access to agricultural inputs . The program will provide community-based training to equip farmers with skills and energy for the productive use of technologies to reduce post-harvest losses and enhance food security. Through access to Productive Use of Energy (PUE) technologies like solar irrigation pumps, dryers, and milling machines, we shall aim to improve the product shelf life for the produce of smallholder farmers, increase their incomes, and create jobs.

ENVenture will establish a revolving fund for continuous access to finance and business training, thereby strengthening the food supply chain and community food security.
By providing easy access to PUE technologies to smallholder farmers, we shall be able to income inequalities and create a more sustainable and resilient agricultural sector. Our approach will aim to empower Agriculture cooperatives to offer affordable solutions through rental/hire purchase models for low-income communities.
