ENVenture Solar Acedemy

May 8, 2024

Over the last six years of supporting energy entrepreneurs in off-grid communities, ENVenture has identified a needs gap in the clean energy supply chain including a lack of a clear structure to address the customer’s after-sales services and maintenance/repair needs. ENVenture will implement this project providing basic solar installation, repair, and maintenance training to youths living in rural and peri-urban areas as village technicians in order to facilitate the uptake of clean energy technologies through after-sales services. We are tapping into the underutilized skills of technical vocational education across different communities as well as 80% of Ugandan youth living in rural communities in poor conditions. These are surviving on environmentally damaging activities such as firewood collection, bricklaying, salt mining, etc for income generation.
As the world pursues its goal of a clean environment, this project will ensure that adequate installation capacity is achieved to meet the massive demand for solar energy and continue to support customers purchasing solar products from the CBOs, cooperatives, and VSLAs we currently support. The uptake of clean energy technologies in the last mile is shallow because of the limited access to aftersale services in terms of maintenance, and repair.
Our approach to impact is that by investing financial and upskilling support in clean energy entrepreneurs & professionals and convening the clean energy start-up ecosystem (input and activity), We aim to equip technicians and ecosystem stakeholders with essential resources and skills (output) that are required to drive innovation and build equity into the clean energy economy (outcomes). Ultimately this empowers communities to collectively move us towards an abundant world with 100% clean energy for 100% of the population, in the shortest time possible (impact).
